The project is an interior and exterior renovation of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences Building. The Lobby and Student Lounge were renovated and expanded into the exterior arcade to increase usable area, natural light, and provide a welcoming environment. The waffle slab was exposed to create a dynamic ceiling and perimeter soffit added to conceal ductwork. A Conference Center was incorporated to increase meeting and classroom space.
The existing Lobby Stair was removed and replaced with an open, light, ornamental stair that incorporates seating underneath. Back-lit acrylic panels rise up the adjacent wall and wrap the ceiling
above to create a sense of movement up the stairs and serve as a Donor Wall. The Bistro was relocated adjacent to the Student Lounge and a new Second Floor Lounge was created in it’s place.
